Cindy Munyavi silences critics

Local musician Cindy Munyavi put critics to shame after being the subject of fashion news following her regalia at the recently held Nama awards. Cindy showed up rocking a small dress with plastic and sequin details.

The eye catching outfit stood out from among all the other costumes worn on the day. Although the outfit accentuated Cindy’s curves, people were not short of words in labelling it as a dismal failure.

Cindy was quick to clap back at the seemingly backward fashion police as she clearly stated that the outfit was in line with morden trends. She bemoaned lack of appreciation on the local scene for innovative and morden designs. Cindy appaluded her designer Tembani Mubochwa for coming up with a well crafted masterpiece.

Cindy Munyavi is one of Zimbabwe’s leading fashion icons. She has her own boutique and is renowned for her classy fashion choices. She even writes for newspapers fashion articles. Her plastic costume generated so much interest to the point that a plastic movement challenge was born amidst the speculation.

People have been posting pictures of themselves wearing all things plastic. From dry cleaner plastic covers to plastic bags, the movement has gained momentum.

Cindy seems undeterred by nasty comments about her outfit and fashion pace setter seems determined to continue unveiling similar outfits in future.

While Cindy has made her point regarding Zimbabwe’s failure to embrace unique outfits, some analysts feel there is the need to strike a balance between standing out and wearing what can be easily accepted by society.
