Chapungu stun Caps United

Chapungu stunned Caps United with a 2-1 away victory which ensured the airmen flew to the top of the psl standings. The victory condemend Caps United to their first defeat of the season as the airmen assumed pole position in the domestic premiership.

Makepekepe had begun the day carrying the invincibles tag given their impressive start of 5 wins and 1 draw. Another win would have seen the green machine take a 4 point lead at the summit but a well polished Chapungu had other ideas.

Caps United had started the brighter of the two teams with Gabriel Nyoni opening the scoring for Makepekepe with a strike in the 19th minute. The green machine then appeared to take control of the game but as the game wore on Caps United struggled to contain Chapungu’s threat down the left hand channel. The vistors however restored parity towards the break courtesy of a headed effort.

Patrick Khumbula then steered Chapungu into a 2-1 lead after striking just after the break. Khumbula took advantage of a lapse in concentration as Chapungu looked to take full control. The green machine searched for a way back but the airmen stood firm and held on for a win which saw them go top with 16 points.
