Zimdancehall is a genre that has gained momentum in Zimbabwe over the past few years. It was mainly popularized by some ghetto youths from Mbare in Harare. Indeed the famous Chillspot records where most of the zimdancehall artists were recognized and groomed is situated in Mbare. Here are our top 5 zimdancehall artists from Mbare.

1 Killer T

Kelvin Kusikwenyu also known as Killer T was born and bred in Mbare. He was opharned at an early age. Killer T became famous after the release of his song ‘Makarova ganaz’. He then went on to release several hit songs such as Tiri kumhanya, Takangodaro and Ndamuda. Killer T is now a household name. He is commonly reffered to as the chairman. He has toured several countries overseas. Killer T’s music is always dominant at parties,weddings and events. He often refers to his childhood home of Mbare in his songs. He has often confessed that he gets inspiration for his songs from Mbare and the people who live there.

2 Kinnah

Kinnah is also a resident of Mbare. He rose to fame because of his hoarse voice and raggae style way of singing. Kinnah has released songs such as Mwari wedenga and Zvangu zvauya.

3 Fantan

He is regarded as the godfather of zimdancehall music in Mbare. Fantan founded Chillspot records together with Levels and Rhibe. He had a knack for identifying raw talent and nurturing it. Most popular zimdancehall artists such as Enzo ishall, Killer T, Souljah Jah love and Ras Pompy passed through his hands. He suprised many zimdancehall lovers when he announced that he was now venturing into singing as well. He proved to be amazing.

4 Dobba Don

Dobba Don is well known for his laid back, lazy and soft singing style. He has released songs such as Mudendere. Dobba don hails from Mbare and has proved that nomatter where you come from, your talent can take you far.

5 Seh Calaz

The mabhanditi hit maker grew up in Mbare. His singing career made him one of the best artists to come out of Mbare. Seh Calaz has penned down songs such as Mabhanditi, mumota muri kubvira and Handikendenge. He is commonly known as Mubahanditi. Seh Calaz has gone on international tours several times.
