Zimbabwe’s 10 Most Popular Actors Of The 2000s: Where Are They Now?

In the years 2000s, Zimbabwe’s television and film industry was booming, with a lot of competition in television series from drama series like Studio 263, Estate Blues, Amakorokoza, Gringo to name just few.

Viewers fell in love with some particular characters who became household names whether they loved them or loved to hate them. We take a look at some of the popular actors of the 2000s and what they have been up to lately.

1.Denzel Burutsa

Burutsa’s character Jabu on Studio 263 made him an instant hit with the ladies in Zimbabwe. He left the show for South Africa where he attended film school at AFDA. Recently he’s been working behind the scenes producing music videos for local artists.

2. Kapfupi

Kapfupi was and still is one of the best comedians to come out of Zimbabwe. He rose to fame with his comedy series on ZBC TV and has never looked back. Recently Kapfupi whose real name is Freddy Manjalima was involved in drama production called Malhalela in which he worked with South African kwaito star Freddy Gwala.

3.Chipo Bizure

Chipo Bizure rose to fame in the series Studio 263 with her out of the box character Eve. Her character on the show was the one viewers loved to hate. After leaving the show and a few marriages to her name, Chipo emerged when she featured on an episode of Zimpunked and the Film Sinners in 2013.

4. Caroline Mashingaidze

Caroline’s big break came when she was cast in the series Estate Blues. Mashingaidze’s character was not one to ignore. Caroline is one the few 2000s’ actresses still in the industry, she has appeared in several local films and production after Estate Blues ended.

5. Tapiwa Mavindidze

Who can forget the troublesome hunk on Studio 263 VJ?! Mavindidze is still dedicated to his calling, he has since featured in productions like Gringo the Troublemaker, Sinners nad Chishamiso.
