It’s pageant season and Zimbabweans are claiming the crowns left, right and center. Zimbabwean Australian based student Wendy Ruwiza was crowned Miss Africa Perth 2015 on Sunday in Australia. Miss Africa Perth is an annual beauty pageant giving African young women to showcase their different cultures through fashionable tradition, music, art and beauty.
Wendy who gave a remarkable speech outdid many other African beauties including a fellow Zimbabwean Sakhile Ndlovu. She walked away with $1,000 cash prize, a trophy and prizes worth more than $3,000.
The Bachelor of Social Work student says she wishes to become a proactive social worker who will help young women from various backgrounds attain their goals.
“I am speechless and happy to have won Miss Africa Perth 2015 and as a Bachelor of Social Work student I shall use this platform to help young women who come from different backgrounds that have been hurt or feel that they are not worthy anything understand and know their wealth”, she said.
Wendy succeeds another Zimbabwean beauty Nyasha Kunaka who was last year’s Miss Africa Perth. We don’t have problems winning crowns, we have problems keeping them. Here’s to hoping their nudes laws are not as strict as the ones at Miss World Zim Trust.
