Calvin has been killing it lately, taking all the opportunities presented to him. The Bulawayo rapper was recently featured in the latest issue of the biggest hip hop mag in South Africa, SAHipHopMag. Here’s what he had to say.

1. His stage name Cal_Vin represents two things, Cal means devotional and Vin means Conqueror.

2. He became a producer because he couldn’t afford studio time so he decided to do it himself.

3. JayZ and Snoop Dogg are his musical influences.

4. His top five rappers in the game are JayZ, J. Cole, Nicki Minaj, Drake and Lil Wayne.

5. He says the Cassper Nyovest collaboration has opened doors and brought attention to his music that he never thought was possible.

6. His biggest concerns about the music industry is the exploitation from music promoters which makes it difficult to grow.

7. His album “Year Of The Vin” is about to drop in August.

9. Asked what he looks for in a girlfriend, Calvin says, beauty, brains, loyalty and a good sense of humor.

10. When he’s not busy playing gigs, Calvin enjoys hanging out with his girlfriend or friends and watching comedy.
