Garanganga falls in Sacramento Challenger qualifiers

Takanyi Garanganga succumbed to a straight sets defeat in the Sacramento challenger qualifiers on Saturday.

Zimbabwe’s Davis Cup top seed had been hoping to make the main draw in Sacramento but had a disappointing encounter which saw him lose to Eric Johnson 6-1, 6-2.

Takanyi will have been disappointed by the defeat against a player that is ranked 709 on the ATP rankings. Garanganga currently has a ranking of 434 but Saturday illustrated that rankings count for nothing when approaching major events.
