A Zesa transformer at Deka Drum broke down affecting both power and water supplies to the district resulting in this mess. Dr Nyasha Masuka, Matebeland North Province Director reportedly said that when Binga has no electricity it automatically affect water supply, hence departments like hospitals can not operate without water as this exposes both the clients and staff to the diseases.

”Water shortages is partially forcing us to close the hospital with immediate effect because the challenge is better than estimated. In the meantime we will only attend to critical conditions only and we will be admitting to those in very serious conditions only,” she added.
