First Lady Encourages Apostolic Churches to Screen for Cancer

First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa has been at the forefront of cancer awareness. She has been on the campaign to encourage cancer screening across the country. Now she is pushing for the often medically reluctant apostolic sect to be part of the campaign. The first lady went to the Johane Masowe WeChishanu apostolic church. The gathering had thousands of people in Highfields, Harare for a free cervical and breast cancer screening awareness campaign.

According to ZBC news, thousands of members of the sect, have benefited from the First Lady’s campaign against cervical and breast cancer. The First Lady who is also the ambassador of health, said it is important to spread the word to every Zimbabwean if the programme is to achieve the desired goals.

Madzibaba Moses Gwasarira and his followers believe that other members of the apostolic churches will hid the call and go for screening.

More than 60 000 people have been screened since the programme began. The target is more than 200 000 people by the end of this year.
