Winky D Nominated for 2017 African Entertainment Awards

Dancehall star Winky D has been nominated for the 2017 African Entertainment Awards. The multi-award winning chanter is nominated in the ‘Best Dancehall Artist’ category. He is up against other African dancehall heavyweights including Ghana’s Shatta Wale, Nigerians Burna Boy, Patoraking and Uganda’s Bebe Cool. Winky D also happens to be the only Zimbabwean nominated for the Canadian based, diaspora awards.

This is the third time that the Gafa king has been nominated for the awards. In 2011, Winky D was nominated for the African Entertainment Awards (AEA) in the Best Mainstream Act of the Year, Song of the Year and Artist of the Year categories.

The African Entertainment Awards is an annual award show that recognizes individuals who have positively impacted the African Canadian entertainment industry. It is also aimed at showcasing rich African-Canadian culture, arts, and entertainment. This event features a red carpet gala reception, live entertainment, comedy, and awards ceremony graced by elite guests, celebrities, performing artists and business professionals.

This year’s event which is scheduled for October 21 at the Metro Toronto convention Centre in Canada.
