Caps return to top as Dembare lose.

It was an eventful weekend of premier soccer league action with Caps United returning to the top of the Castle Lager premier soccer league standings following a victory over Mushowani Stars on Sunday. Ronald Chitiyo proved the hero for makapekepe after rising from the bench and heading home the all important winner which handed the green machine a vital 3-2 win over Mushowani Stars.

Caps United had began the game on a high with Godwin Goriyati placing the hosts into the lead with a well placed effort, after getting to the end of a free-kick. Mushowani however needed just two minutes to restore parity with Evans Katema winning Mushowani Stars a penalty after being brought down inside the box. Katema showed composure from the spot as he handed Mushowani an equaliser.

Mushowani then took the lead in the 33rd minute again courtesy of Matema who wiggled himself into a promising position to head home a second from the visitors. Caps United however levelled matters 5 minutes from half time with poor handling by Mushowani’s goal minder allowing Dominic Chungwa to pounce and give the hosts an equaliser.

The second half proved a tighter affair and with 11 minutes remaining until full time second half substitute Ronald Chitiyo emerged Caps United’s hero after heading home a pin point Phineas Bamusi cross to hand the hosts a 3-2 win. Victory steered Caps United to the summite of the standings with 19 points, just one point more than Chicken Inn who hammered Chapungu 3 nil. In other encounters on Sunday Telone and Manica Diamonds drew 1 all as Herentals and Highlanders played out a nil all stalemate.
