An ordinary album in Zimbabwe can cost from a dollar up to $20. This often depends on the artist’s niche. Over the past few years ago number of businessman have chosen to show support of local music. They attend artists’ album launches where they bid or even purchase albums. Some musicians with a greater mainstream pull tend to get the best bids.

Killer T

Mr Hot Property is one of the leading Zimdancehall musicians on the digital space. In 2017 Killer T was the first Zimdancehall artist to have music online. Well fast forward to his recent album release of ‘Mashoko’. The artist received $65,000 for his album.

Jah Prayzah

It’s quiet obvious that Jah Prayzah is a bankable artist. With over 30 awards including an MTV Africa Music Award, Jah Prayzah can sell his music to almost everybody. Well, Wicknell Chivayo paid $10,000 for Jah Prayzah’s eighth studio album, Kutonga Kwaro.

Andy Muridzo

When Andy Muridzo released his album Ngazviende Mberi, we bet he never imagined walking away with $11k. Baba Keketso had big stakeholders bid for his album including the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority who bought the album at $5,000.

Seh Calaz

Boss Yala is a fan favourite and it also seems that the big sharks love his music too. Seh Calaz received $2,5k for his album.

Winky D

Not only did Winky D fill up the HICC, he walked away with $70,000 for ‘Gombwe’ album. Flamboyant businessman Genius purchased the album at $40k.
