4 artists nominated for the Afrimma awards

Zimbabweans are excited at having four local artists being nominated for the Afrimma awards this year. Most people have hailed the development as positive one and a step in the right direction. Having some of our own recognised at such a prestigious platform is indeed music to the ears of most fans. AFRIMMA is the only music award scheme that celebrates the music of African origin; including but not limited to Afrobeats, Assiko, Bongo, Decale, Funana, Genge, Highlife, Kwaito, Lingala and Soukous.And this year is a good year for Zimbabwe as the country has for the first time has 4 artists all nominate

The nominations are as follows.

Jah Prayzah was nominated again in the male category as he was last year. BET Award winner Shasha together with Gemma Griffiths, Ammara Brown and Shashl are nominated in the Female category. Shasha is also nominated in the best newcomer category

Social media has been flooded with positive comments on the nominations as music lovers wished their favorite artists all the best. Local music has gained so much prominence on the continental scene which clearly shows that local artists have taken their work a notch up. Local songs have been making waves on Trace Africa and BBC radio Africa, a thing that was not so common in the past. Jah Prayzah has had a fruitful year in 2020 following the release of his new album which received scores of positive reviews.

Likewise Shasha also made the headlines after winning a BET award. Fans are hopeful that all the nominated artists will beat their competition this year.
