“The Lion King” makes its debut in Zimbabwe.

There has been so much excitement about the new animated movie The Lion King. The Walt Disney production was initially released on the 17th of July 2019. The star studded cast for the new movie includes big names such as Beyonce, Seth Rogen, Donald Glover and John Oliver. The good news for most Zimbabweans is that Ster Kinekor will be showing the movie at its theatres starting tomorrow.

The movie is a must see as it embraces African beauty and wildlife. The story line for the movie remains unchanged from the previous versions of the Lion King. It is still the same story about Simba trying to retrace his father’s footsteps in light of his uncle’s plans to take over the throne. He however has a great support system to help him fight against the plans of his greedy and cruel uncle.

The visuals in the movie are simply marvellous and breathtaking. Indeed African beauty is amplified and highlighted for the rest of the world to see. Another interesting feature to look out for are the soundtracks in the movie. The creators of the movie found it befitting to include African singers and pair them up with Beyonce to come up with songs for the movie. These include Busiswa, Yemi Alade, Tiwa Savage, Burna Boy, Shatta Wale, Savage and Mr Eazi. The singers come from different African countries including Ghana, South Africa and Nigeria.

Speaking on the issue of the soundtrack Beyonce said,” The soundtrack is a love letter to Africa”. She said they had looked for the best talent in Africa.

The movie is surely one that should not be missed .
