BREAKING: PSL matches abandoned as referees snub games

A number of Castle Lager Premier Soccer League matchday 2 games have been abandoned owing to the absence of referees at match venues.

The withdrawal of the match officials comes a few hours after the Sports and Recreation Commission suspended the Felton Kamambo ZIFA led board.

The five games which were affected are the Triangle vs Dynamos clash Gibbo in the Lowveld, Highlanders vs Ngezi Platinum at Barbourfields, Cranborne Bullets vs Bulawayo Chiefs (Sakubva), Yadah vs ZPC Kariba (Baobab) as well as the match between Herentals and Black Rhinos the National Sports Stadium.

The games were supposed to kick-off at 3pm CAT.

In a show of flexing their muscles, ZIFA’s Referees Committee which appoints the matchday officials has withdrawn its officials as the suspension of the FA takes a new twist.

It is yet to be seen whether the PSL games scheduled for Wednesday will take centre stage or it will be a repeat of today’s disappointments.
