Top 5 Zim abductions of 2019.

2019 has been a tough year for most Zimbabweans. The rising cost of living, economic meltdown and unstable politcal environment has forced many people to live pathetic lives. As if that was not dreary enough, the second republic has been ruling with an iron fist, curbing any opposition activities and thwarting protests. Several people who have dared to speak out against government have been abducted, tortured and at times silenced. These are the top five abductions of 2019.

1 Gonyeti

Comedian Samantha Kurya, popurlaly known as Gonyeti was abducted from home by some unknown assailants. She was forced to strip naked, beaten and forced to drink raw sewer. She was bundled into a car and dropped off in Crowborough. She had to bear the humiliation of walking around naked and was only assisted by a lady who there’s a dresser her through a window. Samantha narrated her ordeal and recalled how horrific the whole incident had been.

2 Peter Magombeyi

The doctor from Parirenyatwa hospital was taken from his Budirior home in September. He had been instrumental in negotiations with government over the increase in their allowances. He was found dumped 30 km outside Harare, distressed and in severe trauma. The government distanced itself from the kidnapping and said a third force must have been responsible for the abduction.

3 Obert Masarure

Although he was abducted in December 2018, the president of the amalgamated rural teachers union of Zimbabwe, lived to tell the ordeal in 2019. He was abducted from his Waterfalls home and stripped naked. He was assaulted with sjamboks all over the body and later told to roll in mud .

4 Platinum Prince

The zimdancehall chanter is rumoured to have been abducted early this week after arriving from his South African show. Recent images on social media show him with a battered face and blood dripping all over. Platinum Prince released a song titled Ndiyo yacho here Mr President lamenting the state of affairs in Zim.

5 Countless opposition party supporters.

A number of supporters of the opposition party MDC have been abducted and tortured this year. Most of them have had their stories undocumented.
