Zim sex slaves rescued from S.A brothel.

About 30 women of Zimbabwean nationality were rescued recently in South Africa from a brothel. They had been forced into drugs and prostitution. The poor victims were found locked up in a brothel in the province of Mpumalanga where some drug lords had kept them against their will as sex slaves. That ad also been forced to take drugs.

The women were part of a larger group of people involving males who had been residing at the brothel under hostage. The other victims were from Nigeria, DRC and South Africa. All the Zimbabwean ladies had no travel documentation. They have since been handed over to the department of immigration.

Police acted on a tip off and raided the Emalahleni area where they safely rescued the men and women and arrests were made. The victims said they had been taken against their will and were forced to take drugs before engaging in sexual activities. Issues of human trafficking and prostitution are quite rampant in South Africa.

Helpless nationals from other countries who flee to South Africa to look for greener pastures often end up victims of prostitution rings and traffickers. Some are lured into prostitution by fake promises of work only to wake up to a realisation that they were duped after the fact. The situation seems to be escalating as evidenced by the women rescued recently.
