Breaking news: Judgment reserved indefinitely in Marry Chiwenga’s bail application.

It seems to be a never ending cycle for Marry Chiwenga, the enstranged wife of vice president Constantino Chiwenga. The high court has just reserved judgment in her bail application pending trial indefinitely. After hours of both the state counsel and defence counsel arguing their case, high court judge Webster Chinamora has just reserved his ruling on the matter indefinitely. It is not clear as to when Marry will know her fate. Marry is facing several criminal charges ranging from attempted murder, money laundering and fraud.

On her routine remand at the Magistrates court yesterday she was remanded to 14 January 2020. Marry looked gaunt and sickly and had bandages wrapped around her arms. In her opposing papers, Marry alleges that the charges are trumped up and fabricated and she never at any point attempted to kill her husband. Chiwenga alleges that she tried to end his life when he was gravely ill and hospitalised in South Africa. She was later barred from seeing him when he was airlifted to China for further treatment.

On the money laundering charges Marry claims that she used money that belonged to her husband and he is the one who must be arrested. The former beauty queen has maintained her innocence and it remains to be seen whether she will be granted bail. As if the criminal charges are not enough to dampen her spirits, Marry is also battling divorce proceedings in which her husband is claiming that she is a drug addict and unfit to be given custody of the kids.
