Touching:Selmor Mtukudzi still trying to come to terms with father’s death.

Selmor Mtukudzi recently went down memory lane as she shared old chats with her late father, the legendary Oliver Mtukudzi. She penned down a touching message in remembrance of her iconic father who passed away on January 23 last year. Selmor said she is still trying to come to terms with his death and that her herats still beats when she people refer to her father as “the late”. Selmor shared some WhatsApp messages between herself and her father in which the latter assured her that he was feeling much better and had sent some lyrics to her.

She confessed that the two of them communicated through songs and that her father liked to express his feelings through music at times. He expressed his love and care for his family through his lyrics. Selmor claimed that she is heartbroken and is still going through a difficult period as she remembers her late father. Selmor and her father shared a strong musical bond. She clearly inherited her father’s musical genes. She has been doing a great job in maintaining her father’s legacy as evidenced by the shows that she has been staging. Selmor has been perfoming together with her father’s band including Piki Kasamba. The crew has been touring the world and reliving the late icon’s dream. Selmor also expressed gratitude to those who had assisted her family during their time of bereavement.

Oliver Mtukudzi was the first ever musician to be declared a national hero although his family opted to have buried in his rural home. His musical career spanned over four decades. His songs were adored worldwide and he soon became a symbol of African unity through the arts. Tuku accomplished a lot of things during his lifetime and his music continues to dominate the airwaves even after his passing on.
