Man selling fake lotion busted, forced to apply it on himself

A video of a man selling fake lotion has gone viral. The culprit who sold counterfeit camphor cream and lotion to unsuspecting victims in Harare had a taste of his own medicine after he was asked to apply the fake cream on his body. The man could be seen vigorously rubbing fake camphor cream onto his face, neck, head and arms with onlookers urging him to apply more.

It is alleged the camphor cream was mere soap liquified and packaged in camphor cream containers and passed off as the real product. The man is suspected to have sold the cream to numerous people who fell victim to his pranks. He was eventually nabbed by a group of people who forced him to apply the credit in his own body. He was lucky to get off without a good thrashing as is commonly done by members of public when they pick up a fraudster.

Fake products have made their way into the black market and people have been advised time and again to stop buying goods on the streets. Items such as royco, washing powder, fabric softener and margarine have all been duplicated with some people even falling sick after using the products. Companies have been warning people against buying cheap products on the streets. Recently rumours were circulating that fake whiskey was being sold in the streets of Harare.

Some of the products on the streets might be original but will have long expired. Vendors often change the expiry dates in order to sell their wares. The unidentified man in the video has been castigated for his fraudulent activities and people have claimed that they will desist from buying things on the street as opposed to supermarkets and reputable tuck shops.
