Gonarezhou, the local movie continues to get international recognition. The movie centres around a young man who joins a poaching gang. It features the like of Tariro Mnangagwa, Tammy Moyo and Eddie Sandifolo. The movie is a true masterpiece and highlights the abundance of acting talent in Zimbabwe. In February the movie won an award for best director First feature film at the Pan African Film and arts festival.
The movie was directed by Sydney Taivavashe and really brings out the dark world of poaching in the country and its impact. Taivavashe beat directors from 40 other African nations to win the coveted award. Gonarezhou is indeed a great must watch movie. It also premiered in Los Angeles early this year.
The country has been on an anti poaching drive with various projects being put in place to raise awareness on the effects of poaching.
