Condolence messages have been pouring in for the late former PSL CEO Chris Sambo. He was confirmed to have succumbed to covid 19 this week. His untimely death has robbed the football fraternity of a dedicated and hard working member.
Mr Sambo had a lot of love for the game of football. His immense contribution to the development of football in the country can never be forgotten. During his tenure at PSL he served the league with distinction. He advocated for the full commercialisation of football and facilitated various competitions and sponsorship models. He was surely a true gem within football circles.
Mr Sambo is unfortunately one of the latest victims of covid 19 which is currently wreaking havoc worldwide. Another prominent figure who died of the virus is minister of lands Perrance Shiri. The country has over 2500 recorded cases of the virus with numbers set to increase over the coming few months if safety measures are not adhered to.
In an official statement, PSL leadership described Mr Sambo as someone who was dedicated to football development in the country. Most of his colleagues and those in the sports sector also described Mr Sambo as a great visionary whose main aim was to see growth. Tributes have been pouring in. Those that worked with him said they will miss his work ethic and contribution to football.
