Pasuwa defying the odds

Zimbabwean trainer Callisto Pasuwa has been awarded with best coach accolade at the TNM Super League Awards night ceremony at the Amaryllis Hotel in Blantyre on Wednesday following an incredible 2022 season.

The former Dynamos and Warriors gaffer guided Nyasa Big Bullets to their fourth consecutive crown subsequently carving another piece of history in his coaching career.

Pasuwa’s tactical acumen showed when The People’s Team set up a new highest score of points to win the championship after his charges finished 10 points clear of their closest rivals Blue Eagles.

As if that was not enough, Nyasa Big Bullets also broke their 71 points tally record they achieved in the 2018 campaign after amassing an incredible 73 points last season.

To add on, the champions also netted the highest number of goals, 69, and conceded only 21 to finish top of the table with a 48-goal difference.

The second-placed Blue Eagles scored 39 goals to finish the campaign with a 29-goal difference.

“In his four-year stay at The People’s Team, last season proved to be remarkable for the Zimbabwean as his Maule side was simply amazing in all areas,” read part of a statement on the team’s official website.

Apart from Pasuwa, Nyasa Big Bullets also dominated the awards night ceremony as they scooped the most accolades which were up for grabs.

Gomezgani Chirwa scooped the Defender of the Season Award before he was crowned the Player of the Season while Patrick Mwaungulu won the TNM Super League Midfielder of the Season.
