ZBC confirms 30 covid 19 cases

The Zimbabwe broadcasting corporation recently announced that 30 of its staff members had tested positive for covid 19. This comes at a time when the deadly virus is wrecking havoc in the country.

In a statement issued by the giant media entity, it was stated,”The ZBC wishes to advise that 30 members of staff have tested positive for covid 19. All 30 are currently isolating at home. The corporation continues to follow government and World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines with periodic testing, premises disinfection and personal protective equipment provision”. Minister of information Monica Mutsvangwa asserted that media personnel are part of essential services.

Several companies have had their employees infected with the virus. Ok supermarkets, Pick and Pay, Zupco and Cimas have all confirmed cases at their premises. The country currently has over 4000 confirmed cases of the disease. The increase in the number of cases prompted government to impose a national lockdown.

People have been called on to adhere to safety measures such as wearing a mask, sanitising hands and surfaces and maintaining social distance. ZBC also clarified that of the 30 confirmed cases, only 5 are showing signs of the virus. The other 25 are not exhibiting any signs.
