Green Fuel claim maiden PSL win

Green Fuel secured their first PSL victory by defeating Simba Bhora 1-0 at the National Sports Stadium. After six unsuccessful attempts by the lowveld side, the newly appointed technical team led by Rodwell Dhlakama finally secured a victory for Green Fuel.

The game’s first significant moment occurred in the 16th minute when Green Fuel received a free-kick after Simba Bhora’s goalminder Rashid Seidu handled the ball outside the box. From the resulting free-kick, Washington Mapuya scored the visitors’ opening goal.

Simba Bhora had a chance to equalize ten minutes before halftime, but Blessing Moyo missed the target from a free-kick as the game went to half-time with Green Fuel carrying a 1 nil lead.

In the second half, Simba Bhora could have equalised when a handball incident resulted in them being granted a penalty. Unfortunately, Blessing Moyo’s spot kick was saved by David Bizabani, much to the visitors’ delight.

Despite the introduction of Luke Musikiri, Talent Chawapiwa, and Ali Sadiki, the hosts were unable to score, allowing Green Fuel to claim their first win of the season.

The win elevated Green Fuel from the basement of the log standings into 17th position with the win taking their points tally to 5 from 7 matches.
