Caps united sign Clive Augusto

Caps United coach Darlington Dodo says the addition of striker Clive Augusto into the Green machine fold is meant to bolster the team’s frontline ahead of the much-awaited Premier Soccer League season.

Augusto who is coming in as a replacement for the departed Ishmael Wadi who joined South Africa’s Glad Africa Championship side JDR Stars put pen to paper at Makepekepe for a two-year deal as he seeks to revive his career which has taken a deep slump.

Dodo noted that the process of looking for a striker started way back before Wadi’s deal.

“Looking at our team we were looking for a striker to compliment our wide areas where Wadi was one of the wide players and getting Clive was what we wanted to boost our attack. It was a process we started before Wadi’s deal,” he said.

Augusto is also expected to add some more fire power to the squad given he is familiar with the domestic league after a faring well with Chicken Inn in 2014 where he netted 14 times for the club before joining Maritzburg United in South Africa.

“I feel the environment is good for him to up his game again and can even do better than what he did in the past in both the league and cup games,” noted Dodo.

The Caps United gaffer, however, bemoaned the suspension of the game saying it will affect the fitness and shape of the players who had already gone for almost 18 months without playing football before the Chibuku Super cup kicked off.

“It really is a difficult time for both players and coaches as we have to give out individual programmes but the problem is we can’t closely monitor the progress because of the restrictions and also without knowing when the game will resume,” Dodo added.

When the Chibuku Super Cup was suspended, caps united where on position three on 7 points behind log leaders Dynamos and Yadah after 6 games.
