When Selmor Mtukudzi Met Bono! “These Lyrics Will Be Impossible To Ignore”-Selmor
What would you do if you had to meet and work with one the greatest Rock stars of this world? Just ask Selmor Mtukudzi how it feels, she knows.
Our very own beautiful songstress Selmor Mtukudzi is part of a great campaign “ONE” which is an organization fighting poverty and AIDS across Africa. Few months ago Selmor along with other Strong female musicians including Judith Sephuma and Vannessa Mdee came together to record the theme song for the campaign called “Strong Girl”.
Not only is Selmor changing lives using her plartform, some of the greatest moments in her career are happening. Mtukudzi met with her fellow ONE ambassadors in Nigeria where they recorded Strong Girl remix with no other than U2’s Bono, who is the co-founder of the organization.
Selmor expressed her excitement on twitter posting a photo in studio with Bono with the caption, “The highest point of my career happened today, collaborating with Bono on the Strong Girl remix #tawanirwanyasha”.
About the remix Selma said, “Girls and women get a raw deal, especially in the developing world, and it’s time for everyone – men, women, girls and boys – to raise their voices as one and demand better. I sang on the original version as I saw how important it is to make this message loud, so now that some of my top male colleagues are adding their voices, I know that these lyrics will be impossible to ignore.”
The remix also features Nigerian Banky W and D’banj. You go girl, we couldn’t be more proud of the work you’re doing and the lives you are changing.
