Jah Prayzah, Sulu & Tuku To Pay Tribute To Sam Mtukudzi At Pakare Paye This Friday

Sam Mtukudzi passed away this month exactly six years ago in a car accident that also killed his friend and artist Owen Chimhare and to celebrate his contribution to music, artists are coming together this Friday to pay tribute to the talent gone too soon.

The tribute concert for Sam will be held at Pakare Paye Arts Centre  in Norton (founded by Oliver Mtukudzi) this coming Friday. Jah Prayzah, Sulu, Gary tight, Oliver Mtukudzi  and Aleck Macheso will all take the stage.

Sulu told a local publication that he will always honor the days he had with Sam. “Sam said he would play the guitar when his father was not at home and he was happy to enroll at Prince Edward School were he joined the band. I have a similar story because my father did not want me to pursue music, he only realized that I was doing music when he heard about our farm band doing shows around Chegutu”, Sulu told Herald.

But unlike Sam, Sulu’s legendary father wanted him to focus on being a soldier and he onmly got to perform with him during his last days.
