Will Miss Tourism Zimbabwe 2017 Go Above And Beyond?

With auditions are underway for the new face for the 2017 Miss Tourism Zimbabwe, preps up for the pageant. This year’s edition is scheduled to be held on 9 December at the Harare International Conference Center. The big question on everyone’s mind is, will the pageant live up to its elegance?

In a press conference held on Tuesday, Miss Tourism Zimbabwe organizers revealed that they have an anonymous sponsor. This comes after the Big Time Strategic Group Zimbabwe pulled off the plug on the sponsorship for the pageant.

Meeting the press at the press conference were the MTZ patron Barbra Mzembi, Minister oState Miriam Chikukwa, Ms Karen Davidson,  and the new Minister of Tourism, Environment and Hospitality Industry, Edgar Mbwembwe.

Miss Tourism Zimbabwe spokesperson, Spencer Manyemba preparations for the 2017 edition are already in motion. He added that the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe still aims to support the girl child. “Our focus and future plans are centred on our Girl Child programmes and increasing our reach of impact and girl children lives touched,” he said.

MTZ patron Barbra Mzembi made it clear that the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) was still the licence holders for the pageant.

Newly-appointed Tourism and Hospitality Industry minister Edgar Mbwembwe urged the private sector to support pageants. He also said that the government fully backed the pageant and expressed hope that it would be successful regardless of limited sponsorship.

MTZ spokesperson, Spencer Manyemba expressed that they received more than 200 applications from all over Zimbabwe. He also added that the MTZ pageant has plans on going to different parts of the country in the near future. Speaking of entertainment, he shared that negotiations are underway for local and international artists. The artists line up would be announced in due time. He also added that the reason behind having international artists was to raise the bar in the quality for the pageant.

The current partners and sponsors include the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC), Pro Air, ZLG, Angels Hair and Air Zimbabwe to name but the few.
