Tendai Mtawarira’s emotional return

Tendai Mtawarira is well known for his fiery surging runs out on the rugby field with his tough and strong physical and mental character resulting in him being nicknamed beast when he was still at High School. Mtawarira returned to his roots after more than a decade and a half sinve bursting onto the international rugby scene where he now turns out for the Springboks.

Mtawarira last week visited his former school Churchill Boys High School where he honed his rugby skills. The visit was necessitated by Psi international.

Visiting Churchill brought back a lot of emotions for Beast who could not help but continuously smile as he attended the School’s assembly. Memories came down flooding for Mtawarira as the School’s pipe band played the national anthem. The Churchill rugby team also aroused further excitement in Mtawarira after reciting the famous haka which the beast use to be a part of during his days with the Bulldogs.

The Friday assembly also saw the schools anthem being sang with Mtawarira being invited to be a part of the school war cry which the Beast happened to still remember despite the fact that it has been changed a bit as the years have gone by.

Beast also got emotional when he met some of the teachers that taught him with Mrs Mhungu and Mrs Winini his former Maths teacher elated to see one of their students who has become a global icon due to his feats out on the rugby field.
