FC Platinum dominates July monthly awards

By Geronimo News

FC Platinum’s duo of coach Norman Mapeza and goalkeeper Wallace Magalane were duly rewarded for their exploits in their respective areas of specialty after scooping the July monthly awards.

Mapeza was named Coach of the month while Magalane walked away with the Player of the Month accolade.

The achievements by the duo is a clear indication that FC Platinum, who are the current champions, are moving in the right direction in as far as asserting themselves as one of the big boys of Zimbabwean football in the recent past is concerned.

Mapeza has so far guided the platinum miners to an unbeaten run of 11 matches since April 30 when they lost 0-1 to Herentals in Harare.

However, in that aforementioned month (July), Kugona Kunenge Kudada as FC Platinum is affectionately known recorded 4 wins and just one draw to continue with their title defence in style at a time the domestic championship has reached the home stretch.

And for that, Mapeza has scooped the Coach of the Month award.

On the other end, Magalane, has also beyond reasonable doubt, proved why he is the team’s trusted number one after jealously guarding his goal and spent the whole of July without conceding.

FC Platinum were involved in 5 league matches last month and that means Magalane kept 5 clean sheets to help his team march on towards lifting another title, which would be their fourth on the trot.

And for such exploits, it was inevitable for the platinum miners shot stopper to miss out on the monthly gong.
