Makepekepe desperate for a win

Ailing Harare giants Caps United are eager to turn around the fortunes when they match up against champions FC Platinum in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League matchday 22 clash at Mandava Stadium on Saturday.

Fresh from back-to-back stalemates and three consecutive defeats in their last 5 matches, the Green Machine are desperate for a return to winning and bring back the lost confidence within the camp.

Speaking ahead of the match in Zvishavane on Saturday, the Caps United camp has noted with serious concern and sheer determination of the team’s eagerness to bounce back to winning ways.

“Playing against the defending champions is always a game that everyone would want to play and we are so eager and waiting for the day to come. The result will be very very important as it will push us up there on the ladder plus FC Platinum these days has grown to become one of the biggest teams on the land. So, it’s like a clash of the giants and one of the things that will be at stake is bragging rights, so it means a lot for Caps United to win against FC Platinum,” Caps United Assistant Coach Tonderai Chirume said.

Makepekepe who last tasted victory in May when they beat Sheasham 3-0 at Bata Stadium in Gweru are languishing in position 9 on the table, with 26 points hence the determination by the squad to win against all odds at the weekend.

“We’re going there with all that we have and it’s time to restore the club’s pride. We are not happy with where we are on the standings, so there’s no better game than going to FC Platinum, and we will try and turn the tables around,” said the Green Machine skipper Tonderai Mateyaunga.

A win will see Makepekepe move to 29 points.
