Charles Manyuchi embarks on resurrection challenge

Talk of a resurrection challenge arouses interest given the events which gave rise to what has come to be termed as the resurrection challenge. In a manner resembling a true resurrection Charles Manyuchi on early Sunday morning thrilled fans after overcoming Argentina’s Pablo Acosta at the Harare International Conference Centre.

Manyuchi who had laid down his gloves after losing his WBC welterweight silver title to Quadratillo Abduqaxarov turned on the power on Sunday with a masterclass of attacking punches steering the Zim boxer to victory. Fans revelled in victory after Manyuchi’s opponent Pablo Acosta failed to get back to his feet following some hard blows from Manyuchi. The victory is expected to mark a revival for Manyuchi who had put aside boxing following a loss to Abduqaxarov.

The win was a true restoration match for Manyuchi who will now be bubbling with confidence and eager to reclaim his place at the top on the boxing arena. By overcoming Acosta Manyuchi grabbed both the vacant UBC and GBU middleweight titles after subduing his Argentine opponent, Pablo Ezequiel Acosta, via a fifth round TKO at the Harare International Conference Centre early Sunday morning.

Manyuchi will now have his sights on launching another challenge for the WBC silver title, with the gold being his ultimate vision. The HICC was abuzz with excitement with several bouts having been fought prior to the main fight pitting Manyuchi and Acosta. Outside the ring Manyuchi has been involved in efforts of producing future champions after launching the Manyuchi academy. With Zimbabwe having produced top boxers such as Alfonso Zvenyika, Langton Tinago and Proud Kilimanjaro Chinembiri Manyuchi has emerged as another top name to come out of Zimbabwean boxing.
