Rachel J and Enzo ishall’s song “Ngoro” banned on radio.

The Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe BAZ has raised some concerns over the song Ngoro by Rachel J and Enzo ishall. In an official statement copied to various media entities BAZ said it was disturbed by the explicit nature of lyrics in the song. It stated,”We write to raise concerns and reservations on the appropriateness of some lyrics of the song Ngoro by Rachel J ft Enzo ishall currently being played in some radio stations. We believe the below lyrics could be considered sexually suggestive and offensive and may be of negative influence to children”. Some of the lyrics were then cited.

The song has attracted heavy critisicm from the public due to its lyrics. Indeed a clear understanding of the message hidden behind seemingly innocent words would lead to a shocking discovery. Even the video has been branded as unfit for public consumption. This is not the first time that Enzo ishall has come under fire for sexually charged lyrics in a song. His previous offering 50 Magate raised eyebrows and the subsequent video caused furore.

Most radio stations have since stopped playing the song Ngoro as per recommendations of BAZ. Unlike in Western countries where such lyrics could be deemed as normal, the same cannot be said for a conservative country like Zimbabwe. Most people said BAZ was correct in its assessment that the song is not ideal for the young audience.
