Caps’ winless streak continues

Ailing giants Caps United once again found the going tough in their quest for a win after being held to a 1-1 draw by Chicken Inn in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer match at Bata Stadium on Sunday.

Despite making known their hunger for a win, which was going to be a first after a very long time, the Green Machine failed to get past the Gamecocks in Gweru.

With chances far and wide, and both sides sizing each other up, the first half could not witness any goals as the tie went to the breather tied at 0-0.

After the interval, the game became a bit livelier than what it was in the first 45 minutes as both teams showed some determination to collect maximum points.

However, it was Chicken Inn who found the breakthrough on the hour mark when Ginius Mutangamiri’s strike beat Caps United captain and goalkeeper Tonderayi Mateyaunga.

The Gamecock’s celebration did not last long though as Makepekepe came back stronger to level the matters, thanks to Lincoln Mangaira’s finish in the 65th minute.

The result saw the Lloyd Chitembwe coached outfit remain stagnant on 11th position on 27 points while Chicken Inn too – who currently occupy 4th position – did not move an inch on the PSL log standings.

Sadly, for the Green Machine, who had started the season so well and one point tipped to challenge for the title before disaster struck in their camp, the pressure continues to mount and it now needs divine intervention for the team to resurrect from the doldrums.
