Chimbetu poised for DeMbare move

By Geronimo News

Rumour mill has it that Herentals utility player Wilmore Chimbetu is on his way to Dynamos ahead of the impending 2023 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season whose commencement dates are yet to be announced.

The enterprising 24-year-old player who spent the most of the previous campaign being employed as a right back is believed to have captured the attention of the new DeMbare coach Herbert “Jompano” Maruwa with his work ethic and football intelligence.

Should the deal, which is said to be almost done, sails through, Chimbetu will have to work his socks off to assert himself in the Glamour Boys starting XI since he faces stiff competition from Emmanuel Jalai who has since personalised that right back position.

With personal terms having been agreed on, it is said that what is stalling the completion of Chimbetu’s move is that Herentals are reluctant to let go of their player on a permanent basis while DeMbare is opposing the loan idea.

Despite the Blue Army having made several marquee signings during this transfer window, it is not over yet for Jompano who still feels the need to continue refreshing the squad he inherited from the departed Tonderayi Ndiraya who is now at Shamva based side Simba Bhora.

So far, Maruwa has signed more than five players as part of efforts to build a championship winning squad and end the club’s barren spell.

Dynamos last won the domestic title way back in 2014 and it is expected that the former Black Rhinos gaffer will guide DeMbare back to the apex of Zimbabwean football.
