Warriors coach breathes fire

Warriors head coach Sunday Chidzambwa on Tuesday breathed fire following reports of alleged bribery. Sources say Chidzambwa was not happy with conversations that had occurred on a Star FM show titled Coca-Cola sports zone where the Zimbabwe national soccer team head coach was being fingered in allegations of bribery acts in the selection of players.

After announcing a provisional 28 man squad that will face Congo Brazzaville on 28 March Chidzambwa took a swipe at some members of the media over claims he labeled as malicious and retrogressive to Zimbabwean football. Chidzambwa urged the media to be part of a vision of developing local football rather than being involved in the peddling of lies.

The national team coach named a strong team to face Congo Brazzaville in a do or die contest where the Warriors only need a draw in order to qualify for the 2019 Africa cup of Nations to be hosted by Egypt. Knowledge Musona will again lead the warriors side which will this time include Admiral Muskwe of Leicester City and German based midfielder Kelvin Lunga.

There have been reports of alleged unrest even before the warriors assemble for camp with players said to be demanding hefty bonuses after allegations of Zifa board members having given themselves huge allowances on a recent trip to South Africa.

It also emerged on Tuesday that Sunday Chidzambwa is operating without a contract. Zifa President Felton Kamambo however told the media the board was working towards ensuring the local football governing body would have come up with something conclusive when they next meet.
