Matawu leads the way

Former Motor Action and chicken Inn midfielder Clement Matawu has led the way in illustrating the path that some footballers may choose to take after hanging their boots. Matawu was earlier this year named as an administrator at chicken Inn Football club, an institution he served as a player at the time he called it quits.

Key to Matawu’s elevation was a background of having secured a degree in Sports Science at the national University of Science and Technology (NUST). This has shown some players that an administrative route provides an option for former players who could opt to go to school while still putting on their football boots.

Although many have opted to venture into coaching, Matawu has proven that opportunities lie await for those that acquire qualifications and choose to take up administrative roles.

Matawu was recently honoured by the footballers union of Zimbabwe after spending over two decades as a player, a period in which he appeared on the Soccer Stars calendar on six occassions.
