Late strike hands Berks FC Chegutu derby win

Berks FC and Telone Chegutu faced off in an exciting match at Pfupajena Stadium, which Berks FC ultimately won 1-0 thanks to a late goal from Tatenda Matsatsi.

Although Telone Chegutu posed a greater threat in the early stages of the game, Donald Gwegweduka’s missed opportunity in the 22nd minute proved that Berks FC was still in the running. Despite dominating in the first half, Telone Chegutu was unable to break the deadlock, and the game remained scoreless at halftime.

In the second half, Berks FC came back stronger, exhibiting an exciting brand of football and creating several close calls for the opposing team. However, it wasn’t until the 88th minute that a goal came when Tatenda Matsatsi scored a thumping goal, leaving Telone Chegutu with no chance to recover.

Although Telone Chegutu had two chances to level the score in the late stages of the game, they were unable to capitalize on either of their opportunities.

After the match Berks FC coach Richard Nyandoro was pleased with the result, “The team performed according to instruction. It was a good day in the office, they played according to instruction therefore the result that I was expecting did come”.

On the other hand Telone Chegutu gaffer Brian Maninge was disappointed with the outcome, “They played very well but unfortunately we lost. The game was tight, we missed our chances and you know when you miss chances you will cry at the end of the day”.

With the win, Berks FC now has 7 points from 3 matches and is among the teams vying for the league championship, which would secure their place in the Northern Region division One.
