Date set for Chibuku Super Cup final

By Geronimo News

The custodians of Zimbabwe’s flagship competition, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) has released dates for the Chibuku Super Cup final pitting platinum-backed cousins Ngezi Platinum Stars and FC Platinum.

The two dominant forces who both came from Group 4 will meet at Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane on December 4, 2021 in what is expected to be a blockbuster encounter which kicks off at 2pm.

Ngezi Platinum negotiated their way into the final of the knock-out tournament with a 1-0 win over premiership newboys Craneborne Bullets last Saturday at the National Sports Stadium while FC Platinum ended Dynamos’ fairytale in the competition with an identical scoreline at the same venue the following day.

The clash between the two sides will be the third meeting in this tournament and given that they both inflicted defeats upon each other during the run up to the quarter finals stage, it remains to be seen who will be the last man standing.

The final will be returning to Mandava Stadium for the first time since 2014 when FC Platinum beat Harare City on penalties to clinch the title.

The two teams will be facing off in the final for the second time following their first meeting in 2016 when Ngezi Platinum Stars claimed the bragging rights.

Winners of this match will not only walk away US$75 000 richer but will also earn a ticket to represent Zimbabwe in the next edition of the CAF Confederation Cup as well as facing the league champions in the Castle Lager Super Cup while the losing finalists will receive a US$50 000 consolation prize.
