Junior Bunjira shines for Golden Eagles

Junior Bunjira set the Eagles Nest alight after scoring his debut goal for Golden Eagles at the weekend.

The exciting winger who came on as a second half substitute grabbed Golden Eagles opener after getting to the end of a Henry Manatsa cross before heading home the hosts opener.

Following Bunjira’s opener Golden Valley equalised 3 minutes later to bring parity to the contest. Godswill Gwara however ensured the hosts picked up maximum points after converting from the spot as Gondo Harishaye walked away 2-1 victors.

Saturday’s win left Golden Eagles in third place and just 3 points behind log leaders Simba Bhora in the Ruyamuro Northern Region Division One Soccer League race.

Junior Bunjira will be looking to follow in the footsteps of his father Alois who flourished during his days at Darryn T, Caps United and Blackpool before moving abroad where he turned out for Bidvest Wits, Mamelodi Sundowns, Jomo Cosmos, Freestate Stars and FC AK.

Alois Bunjira represented Zimbabwe at junior level and also had the opportunity of putting on the gold and green jersey at senior level.

Bouyed by his maiden Golden Eagles goal Junior Bunjira will be hoping to make a name for himself and realise his full potential.
