Just in: Nelson Chamisa stripped of his presidency at MDC

The Supreme Court of Zimbabwe has ruled the MDC leader Nelson Chamisa is not the legitimate President of the party.The judgment was handed down on Tuesday afternoon in Harare.

The upper court upheld a previous judgment that said MDC must convene a congress using 2014 structures.According to the court outcome, Chamisa is now Secretary for Policy and Research while Tendai Bti and Welshman Ncube are now Alliance partners.Tendai Biti is set to address a press conference on Tuesday night

Most people have reacted with shock at the outcome of the supreme Court case. Chamisa commands a huge fill within the MDC and the judgment has dealt a major blow to his portfolio. Others castigated the supreme court judges for what they termed as interference in politics

Nelson Chamisa worked closely with the founding fathers of the MDC Morgan Tsvangirai. He emerged as the most popular candidate when Tsvangirai died. It remains to be seen whether the MDC will defy the court ruling
