Elizabeth Macheka’s touching tribute
Whilst Valentine’s day was filled with romance and sweet memories for most, this could not be said for Elizabeth Macheka the wife of the late Morgan Tsvangirai. She penned down a heartfelt eulogy in remembrance of her late husband who died on this day in 2018. To mark the first anniversary of his passing on, Elizabeth described Morgan Tsvangirai as the love of her life and commended him for his patience and love during their marriage. The two got married in 2012.
Elizabeth described how difficult life has been for her since her husband died and how much she missed him. Her emotional tribute was filled with compliments for the late MDC leader. Morgan Tsvangirai died after battling cancer and Elizabeth emphazised the effort that she had put in seeking help for her late husband to the point of even travelling abroad in order for him to receive treatment.
Dealing with the death of a spouse has never been easy and like many other people, Elizabeth reflected on the death of the love of her life on valentines day. While Elizabeth comes to terms with the death of her husband, the Movement for Democratic change also spared a thought for their late leader as they commemorated the 1st anniversary since the death of Tsvangirai.
A memorial was held in honour of Morgan Tsvangirai with current MDC president Nelson Chamisa giving a touching speech which highlighted the importnat role played by Tsvangirai in fighting for democracy as Zimbabwe’s main opposition party honoured the legacy of Morgan Tsvangirai.
