Brief description:

The New Zealand Development Scholarships (NZDS) offers the opportunity for international students from selected developing countries to study in New Zealand to gain knowledge and skills through post-graduate study in specific subject areas that will assist in the development of their home country. New Zealand Development Scholarships are available for Postgraduate Certificate (6 months), Postgraduate Diploma (1 year) or Masters Degree (1 – 2 years).

Scholarship value/inclusions:

The scholarships include a fortnightly living allowance, an establishment allowance, medical and travel insurance, travel to and from your home country at the start and end of your scholarship, home leave or reunion travel for some students, and assistance with research and thesis costs for most postgraduate research students.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the following conditions to be eligible for a New Zealand Scholarship:

• Be a minimum of 18 years of age at the time of commencing your scholarship.

• Be a citizen of the country from which you are applying for a scholarship and have resided in that country for at least the last two years.

• Agree to return to your home country for a minimum of two years on completion of the scholarship.

Application instructions:

You must first apply for an Offer of Place (admission) at your preferred New Zealand institution. Once you have a confirmed Offer of Place, you must submit the completed NZDS application form together with your essay and supporting documents by 31 July 2015 to the address indicated at the NZDS page specific to your country.
