African Kingdoms Diaspora Alliance Endorses Imiklomela KaDakamela Awards 2026

The African Kingdoms Diaspora Alliance (AKDA) has officially endorsed the upcoming Imiklomela KaDakamela, also known as Chief Dakamela’s Achievers Awards. AKDA confirmed its participation in the fourth edition of the awards, which celebrate Ubuntu and the promotion of African culture. The event is scheduled to take place from April 3 to 6 at Chief Dakamela’s homestead in Nkayi, Matabeleland North.
Founded in 2017, AKDA is dedicated to promoting African cultural identity, unity, and the philosophy of Ubuntu worldwide. The organisation acts as a bridge between Africa and its global diaspora, focusing on heritage preservation and integrating traditional leadership into modern development initiatives.
“AKDA and the team are attending this year’s Chief Dakamela’s Achievers Awards. We are also inviting many people from all walks of life to join us at this exciting event, awarding the people and their amazing works that promote African heritage,” read a statement by AKDA.
The organisation’s support aligns with the awards’ core objectives of cultural unity, heritage preservation, and youth involvement. The awards advocate the Ubuntu philosophy, emphasizing a universal bond that connects all humanity and unifies diverse African cultures. Past editions have seen participation from people of different tribes and ethnicities across Africa and beyond, preserving languages, customs, and traditions through cultural activities.
Led by Chief Dakamela, a young leader actively involved in promoting African heritage, the awards also engage emerging leaders, ensuring continuity of cultural values in the digital and global age. “We take pride in being part of such events because they remind us to stay connected to our roots,” AKDA added.
Chief Dakamela, appointed Continental Executive Director for AKDA last year, stated that the endorsement enhances his role in cultural diplomacy. He expressed excitement at hosting participants from diverse cultures to experience Ndebele traditions in Nkayi.
The 2026 edition will place a strong focus on rural development, encouraging businesspeople and corporations to explore opportunities in marginalised communities. Chief Dakamela explained that the awards aim to fast-track development, benefiting both local communities and investors through sustained engagement.
“This edition will be used to preach the gospel of development, as we are open to developing our community through various business and empowerment initiatives, working together with interested businesspeople and institutions. We encourage those interested in investing in rural development to be part of this festival, as we will host a seminar that will focus on discussions around how best to tap into the business opportunities available in Nkayi,” Chief Dakamela said.
The 2026 Imiklomela KaDakamela promises to unite African cultures, promote heritage preservation, and highlight opportunities for sustainable rural development while celebrating achievements that reflect the spirit of Ubuntu.
