1. Chitekete by Leonard Dembo
Leonard Dembo, also known as Musoro We Nyoka was one of Zimbabwe’s most prominent musicians in the 90s . Through his Barura express, Leonard Dembo released some of Zimbabwe’s musical anthems and Chitekete is one of the country’s well known songs.
2. Nguva Yakaoma By Simon Chimbetu
The founder of the Dendera Ochestra Kings was also known as ‘Chopper’ on stage. Chopper was an amazing guitarist, vocalist and composer.
3. Chipatapata By Thomas Mapfumo
The Lion of Zimbabwe is also known as Mukanaya and his political influence in Zimbabwe. He made popular chimurenga music that is well known by his fellow Zimbo’s.
4. Amai Ndiri Bofu By Oliver Mtukudzi
The legendary Tuku who has given us over 50 albums consistently and has managed to give us something fresh everytime. Mtukudzi has managed to create his own genre which his fans call tuku music. Even though he sings in his mother tongue Shona most of the time he has managed to affect the white people in a way that has them wanting to know what he is talking about.

The urban groover has a breath taking voice and well written lyrics. His hit song shaina became popular with Chinese people aswell.

Karikoga was born in 1968 and adorns his shinny glitering outfits. He has given us many hits such as hupenyu mutoro and batai mazwi but popularly known for his hit song Mugove

Dhewa was born and raised in Kwekwe and came up with his Utakataka express in the 90’s. Tongai was a great guitarist and had cutting edge vocals.
8. Zuva Rekufa Kwangu By John Chibadura
John worked as a truck driver before moving to Harare in 1980 where he met music and decided to try out performing. He then formed a band which was called The Tembo Brothers Band and found success the next year.
9. Solo naMutsai By Devera Ngwenya Jazz Band
The group was a huge success and used to have artists like Oliver Mtukudzi open for them. Solo naMutsai was a space filler on Volume 3 and surprised them when it became a national and wedding anthem. The song was inspired by real life characters Solo naMutsai.

Born 1951 and passed in 1990. The vocalist/ guitarist played for bands like OK Success, the Acid Band, the Ocean City Band, and the Huchi Band.

The pastor was born in Mudzi district, sungura, jazz and jit are the elements that make up his unique sound.
16. Murambinda By Paul Mpofu and Zambuka
Paul formed his first band Wild Ten with Ciphas Mashakada in 1978. His Career lasted 3decades and that’s where this hit came to life.

They produced the timeless song that seems to have never left any zimbo’s heard. Ruva rangu was a major hit of its time.

The King of Chitungwiza was born in 1968 and passed in 1999. System Tazvida was big in the 90’s to Zimbabweans.

The hit was produced by the groups lead singer Jonathan Wutawunashe. The track had a fresh sound that saw a new sound and genre being born.
