Zimbabwe’s Top 10 Most Influential Figures Of All Time

We have had many Zimbabweans who have influenced our communities by excelling at what they do and inspiring generations and generations to come with their talents. They are proudly Zimbabwean, have represented us in their respective fields of work and have made an impact in the lives of the general public.

We celebrate their works and efforts in bettering and lifting our country’s flag wherever they go. Here’s our top ten list of Zimbabwe’s most influential figures.

Oliver Mtukudzi

There’s nothing that represents the general people more than music does. Musicians have the platform to represent people and that’s what Oliver Mtukudzi has chose to do with his music. An advocate for many organizations, award winner and great artist in his own right who has remained humble in it all. Mtukudzi is an influential figure not only to us Zimbabweans but the rest of the continent.

Kirsty Coventry

Kirsty is one of the most influential women in our country. She has excelled in her career whilst lifting the Zimbabwean flag high. Whilst most chose to leave and represent other countries instead, she made it against all odds to be on top of the game. Coventry has used her platform to inspire and help young Zimbabweans who see a career in swimming by giving them what’s necessary to train and compete, for all that and more we celebrate her.

Strive Masiyiwa

Strive Masiyiwa has succeeded exceptionally at being an entrepreneur, not only in Zimbabwe. He has been on almost every credible list. He made it in difficult times for our country which is highly influential but not only that he has used his success to better other people’s lives. Him and his wife Tsitsi are philanthropists who have dedicated most of their time and money to helping those in need.

Robert Mugabe

President Mugabe is one of the most influential people in the world. He is the most educated President in the world. Mugabe is also the Chairman of the Regional Southern African Development Community and earlier this year was appointed African Union Chairman. He is not only influential to the people of Zimbabwe but in Africa as a whole.

Andy Flower

Andy Flower is considered to be one of the best wicket-keeper batsmen ever. Flower played for the Zimbabwe National team for more than a decade. He holds the Zimbabwean records for the most Test career runs, the highest Test batting average, and most ODI career runs. He is the only Zimbabwean in the ICC’s Top 100 All Time Test Batting Rankings at number 31 (November 2013). He helped in keeping Zimbabwe on the cricket map.
