Top 5 Male Musicians Who Composed Songs For Zim Independence
During the liberation struggle, music boosted the moral of the freedom fighters, artist such as Cde Chinx played a very crucial role during the liberation struggle because of their music that unified the masses and the freedom fighters. However, there are men who will always be remembered through their great hits for independence and liberation struggles that still make a difference today.

1. Cde Chinx Chingaire
Born Dickson Chingaira Makoni popularly known in the music circles as Cde Chinx, he is a revolutionary musician and song-writer. He is considered to be one of the greatest musicians to come out of Zimbabwe. He is known for his revolutionary music which include songs such as “Africa”, “Hondo Yeminda” and “Mabhunu
2. Thomas Mapfumo
Thomas Tafirenyika Mapfumo also known by his nicknames “Mukanya” or “gandanga”. He is a Zimbabwean Chimurenga music singer, His genre of music is called Chimurenga .His first three tracks after the liberation struggle for independence were Chimurenga Explosion , Toi Toi and Chimurenga Rebel Manhungetunge1.
3. Bob Marley
“Zimbabwe” was the only song from the Survival album that was regularly performed by Marley on his last Uprising Tour in 1980, other Survival songs having been dropped prior.
4. Andy Brown
Andy Brown was a Zimbabwean singer, songwriter and guitarist who led the band he formed, The Storm. He was also a key member of the Ilanga band along with Busi Ncube, Don Gumbo and ChinxMG Choir. Andy Brown was also part of the More Fire Crew which recorded several Chimurenga songs some of which included a cover version of the song “Mbuya nehanda kufa vachitaura”
5. Albert Nyathi
Albert Nyathi is a Zimbabwean poet who is particularly famous for the poem and song Senzeni Na? which he composed following the assassination of Chris Hani.
