The workplace is a place of diversity in individuals as well a job descriptions and creates an interesting melting pot for different conversations. And though you have a mutual understanding with your boss or get along very well with your co-workers, there are certain things that you shouldn’t discuss no matter what.

1.Gossip

Though this tempting talking about your colleagues or boss or even company in a bad light makes you look disloyal. People will not trust you and think of you as not a team player. If you have an issue with someone try discussing your problem with them on an individual level.

2. Personal life

Be it your family problems or sex life, keep your personal life private. Problems at home can demean your ability to focus and work in the eyes of your peers, boss or subordinates. Some people might be offended by your stories about your sex life and take it as sexual harassment. If you need to discuss your problems with someone, talk to a trusted friend, or a therapist or counselor.

3. Religion

Do not discuss your own religious beliefs and avoid sharing your opinions about others’ beliefs or lack thereof. You should definitely never try to persuade anyone to convert or judge them for their faith. This is a sensitive subject and is a very personal conviction.

4. Politics

Feel free not to discuss your political affiliation and share your opinions in the workplace.

5. Your salary and career aspirations

What you earn and where you aim to be should be nobody’s business especially in your workplace. Do not search for other jobs during company time. Your boss and colleagues will view you more of an outsider rather than part of the family in the company.

6. Your Health Problems

If you think that sharing about how sick you are will get you sympathy at work, then think again. Ill health questions your capability to work efficiently and productively. Unless it’s a serious illness, try to keep the menstrual cramps, ulcers and migraines to yourself and get your work done.
