The first half of 2019 has been characterized by different events. The good happened as well as the bad. Issues of economic meltdown, religious affirmisim and entertainment all led to the birth of certain phrases and words. Here is our top 5 list of the best hillarious phrases of 2019.

1 Volume bho here, ko brightness

This phrase was used in instances where you one felt they were being scrutinized more than necessary. It was however made popurlar by local comedian Madam boss, who would often post a picture of herself and ask whether the volume or brightness was satisfactory to those stalking her.

2 Hameni munhu waMwari.

This phrase can be attributed to zimdancehall artist Soul Jah love who suddenly turned to introducing himself in social circles with that phrase. He then released a song with the same title.

3 Shamhu nyoro.

The president Emmerson Mnangagwa left people in stitches and gasping for air when he announced at a rally that he government was putting measures in place to try and deal with retailers that were hiking the price of goods. He then said that a whip was being prepared which would be dipped in salty water, dried and unleashed onto the retailers. The figurative manner of speaking made the phrase a part of everyday conversations.

4 Kadash

The Kadash pose symbolized the position whereby one will be straddling. It was borrowed from Enzo ishall’s song 50 magate.

5Valembe

Tocky Vibes released a song called Valembe. People took the word to mean someone who is cool. Most people have now adopted the word and often refer to their favourite celebs or friends as Valembe.
